2018 Toyota Sienna
We think it is true that not many automakers want to offer some fresh updates to complete their big family cars or minivan because the demand is not as high as sedan. Buyers tend to go with small requirement and their concern is only in its capacity, reliability and high-torque design. Buyers even don’t have big expectation for entertainment system or turbocharged powertrain. About Toyota Sienna, its first debut was started in 2011 and it only came with minor changes. For the first time, Toyota will offer updates for engine and transmission of 2018 Toyota Sienna.
We may say that the current Sienna has outdated look with the old styling that is also used by Camry and Corolla. If you compare Sienna with Pacifica from Chrysler, you might think that this car is a car from previous decade. The design is not so unique because the headlights are from Camry as well as radiator grille and rear lights from Venza. It sounds they will keep this exterior styling. Likely Toyota wants to play safe with 2018 Sienna. What comes to our mind is that it is important for Toyota to give something new and different outside. This can be a way to gain first impression from new buyers.
Just like the outer part, the cabin has old look but thanks because it is still designed with perfect ergonomics feel. They wouldn’t change the seat layout and the space is quite big for 3 rows of passengers. For this side, we agree that the cabin layout is still acceptable to make 2018 Toyota Sienna as the option.
In 2017 model, Toyota announced that there were two major models that they would keep for 2018 model. The first is the new engine, Classic 3.5 liter and V6 engine 2GR-FE unit is added with direct fuel injection system to increase the current output with 30 hp so in total is 296 hp. In addition, 2018 Toyota Sienna might come out with improved fuel consumption which can be about 18/24/20 MPG for AWD that is city, highway and combined. It happens because the new gearbox. They will use new eight-speed auto transmission and remove the old six-speed transmission.
