You will see a smoother design and lower roofline if you want to wait for the new 2018 GMC Terrain. It will get the Chevrolet Cruze platform to give smaller and more compact SUV design. The Equinox model was quite popular with its compact and powerful design but the company had to face the issue about its clunky design as a mid-size SUV. GMC have to reengineer and redesign Chevy Equinox and chop the design by removing the old interior look. It is quite possible they will also work for this car with lighter weight, better fuel efficiency as well as performance.

You can expect to see a completely new bodywork design so that the car will be totally different from the previous model. The form will be resembled the Acadia. 2018 Terrain is also assumed to come to the market to fill the more compact crossover segment. It means that this generation will be smaller than before. So, this new SUV will get new modular GM platform, called D2XX which is also used by many GM new cars for this year such as Chevy Cruze, Opel Astra K, Volt and Buick Envision. It is more durable and light which its solidity can be increased by up to 27% and the weight is 200 pounds lighter than before.

Rumors said that the company will support the convenience and functionality inside the cabin with the support of more modern infotainment system such as 4G LTE and CarPlay/Google Auto Connectivity. All new security and safety features are also added such as 10 airbags for standard trim, lane keep assist and many more for 2018 GMC Terrain. The cabin will be more modern, user-friendly and the most important is the advanced technology. It is a bit like the new generation of Equinox. Although it has smaller exterior dimensions but it doesn’t make you feel painful to sit inside because the interior space usage has been rearranged to give more efficient than before.


It will come for compact SUV class and it will lose the old V6 engine. It might come with four-cylinder in-line and turbocharging. Buyers can pick two Ecotec engine with the displacement of 1.4 liter to generate 153 hp and 2.0 liter for 250 hp. The standard engine is completed with six-speed auto transmission and the top end will get modified engine and 2.0 liter with eight-speed automatic for 2018 GMC Terrain.

Release Date and Price

2018 GMC Terrain is reported by some unofficial automotive sites that its release date can be in the beginning of 2017 and the new crossover will be started to launch in the second part of 2017. About the cost, it seems that it wouldn’t be more than $25,000 for the base model.
